Pacific Development Assists with Early Recovery Efforts and Decentralization of Government

June 13, 2023 (Port Vila) - The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) engaged Pacific Development to put a strategy in place to restore the much-needed communications, technology, and power infrastructure in one of the hardest hit areas following the twin category-4 cyclones in early 2023 which devasted 80 percent of the country. The infrastructure strengthening will also support the enrichment of the existing multi-layered United Nations Satellite Centre (UNOSAT) maps of Vanuatu to continually strengthen emergency preparedness and response for future disasters.

 

UNDP has also engaged Pacific Development to provide guidance to the Department of Local Authorities/ Ministry of Internal Affairs to support Vanuatu’s decentralization program and digitization of public service.
